Summary:

This Acer Nitro 5 is the best value high-performance laptop under 60K.

Note it comes with one generation older 9th Gen i5, but the CPU performance metrics are on par or better than Ryzen 5-3550H.

It is best laptop for students into programming, art, animation, videography, video/photo editing. Best value laptop to use with Adobe or similar high octane applications for video rendering and transformations. If you need to handle more complex tasks go for GTX 1660 or better graphics controller that will cost several tens of thousands more – closer to 1lakh or above.

For best performance upgrade to 32GB RAM. Adding SSD is optional for further performance, as the 7200 rpm HDD with Optane memory should be adequate for most use cases. High performance makes it ideal for application software development. Though it will be an overkill for only web browsing, writers and bloggers – they can checkout the 2in1 laptops.

Acer Nitro 5 is a strong contender for the best budget laptop for games.

Combination of best midrange CPU, GPU, high memory, fast disk and FHD make all of this work for best gaming laptop and best laptop for video editing or animation.

Note that for GTX 1650, display refresh rate beyond 60Hz do not add major value for games. From that perspective, with better i5 9th Gen CPU, Acer Nitro 5 is notch above ASUS FX505. Nitro 5 is the best budget laptop for programmers, games and videography from Acer.

Use the link at the end of the specifications table below, to check out other Acer Nitro 5 configurations as well like with an added SSD so on. You will also find a lower priced Ryzen 5 variant, which you may want to consider if you are also looking at the ASUS FX505 as an option.

CONS

Summary:

This ASUS FX505 has lot of positives going for it – see review details above. It is the best value for the price high-performance laptop with military grade toughness.

For best performance upgrade to 32GB RAM. Add 1TB HDD as backup/storage disk. Similar to Acer Nitro 5, but Ryzen 5 lags the Intel i5. Otherwise, it is an excellent choice at a lower price point. The relative underperformance will not be visible for most of the users. Good pick best laptop for students in art, videography, programming and video/photo editing work.

Combination of best midrange CPU, GPU, high memory, fast SSD and FHD at 120Hz refresh rate make all of this work as the best laptop for video editing or animation. It is also the best gaming laptop in the budget price.

However, note that with GTX 1650 which maxes out at probably 100fps with medium settings in games, you may not get to see the 120Hz refresh rate. You do get an excellent display compared to other laptops.

You also get other variants of the laptop with storage options of – 1TB HDD 5400 rpm (avoid), 256GB SSD + 1TB HDD (good option). Check out the link at the end of this laptop review/specs. Some of those are above 60K.

3. HP Pavilion Gaming 15.6-inch FHD Gaming Laptop

HP Pavilion 15 laptop has almost the same configuration as the ASUS FX505, except for storage and memory. It comes with comes with AMD Ryzen 5 3550H CPU paired with Nvidia GTX 1650 4GB GDDR5 RA graphics controller. The FHD 1920x1080 15.6” IPS display has narrow bezels. The laptop comes in attractive sleek design in all black colour.

The memory is 8GB DDR4-2400 MHz RAM and a 1TB HDD at 5400 rpm for storage. The HDD is slow and would need to add or replace with 256GB/512GB SSD.

HP laptop, Pavilion Ryzen 5 model supports 2 slots for DRAM for up to 16GB memory. With the current configuration, you can add one more 8GB DRAM for 16GB total memory.

For storage you can go up to 1TB SSD. The default 1TB HDD at 5400 rpm is slow and can slow down the laptop to a crawl. Add 256GB/512GB/1TB SSD for significant performance improvement. In that case the 1TB HDD 5400 rpm can be used as secondary disk for storage.

Summary:

HP Pavilion 15 is the one of the best configurations for a high performance laptop, but hobbled by the 1TB HDD at 5400 rpm and limit on memory upgrade till 16GB only. It should have been at 7200 rpm or could have provided an SSD disk.

Unlike most other HP laptops there is no free bundled MS Office Home and Student. However, this model comes with the HP quality and reliability and is the best HP laptop under 60000.

Expensive and also needs extra money to add SSD. Use the 1TB HDD for backup/storage. It is an excellent configuration for intensive laptop usage, school and college students, productivity applications.

The high performance and large IPS screen work very well for artists, video/photo editing and medium intensity animation clips. This is the best HP laptop for student programmers, engineers and artists under 60K. However would recommend either Acer or ASUS models which can upgrade up to 32GB RAM and already come with fast SSD.

Summary:

Lenovo L340 could have been the best starter low-price high-performance laptop. It is crippled with no memory upgrade beyond 8GB and comes with the slow HDD. Storage can be fixed with adding SSD at an extra cost. But it is still the best Lenovo laptop under 60000.

With the SSD, it would work well for school and college students, starter programming, mildly intensive architect work and for artists with the support from GTX 1050. However, this graphics controller performance is much lower than GTX 1650 supported in other models.

Mi Notebook Horizon Edition 14 is the only one with 10th Gen i7 in the 60K range. It comes with Intel i7 paired with a good Nvidia starter performance graphics controller MX350 and FHD 14” 1920x1080 display.

Summary:

Mi Notebook 14 is the best 10th Gen i7 within 60K. The default configuration is very good with 8GB memory and SSD. However, it is hobbled with no memory upgrade option.

Nvidia MX350 is a good starter graphics controller with significant performance boost over the integrated graphics controller. Intel i7 gives the boost on general computing side. It makes an excellent configuration for students – especially those getting into programming and art students. However, the no upgrades possible beyond 8GB memory, does not allow it to grow as you move from learning phase on to more complex tasks.

However, even though the performance is not really required the light weight 1.35kg laptop makes it a very good choice for writers and bloggers. Makes it one of the best laptops for architects and designers starting as students and moving on to the professional phase.

In general, it is the best multipurpose laptop for regular use-browsing, productivity apps. Works well for students but cannot grow for improved performance as they move from beginner phase on to expert phase.

Overall, it is the best laptop with i7 in 60000 range and also the best Mi laptop. There is also a lower priced version with Intel 10th Gen i5 CPU.

However, a note of caution, Mi from Xiaomi is a new entrant in the laptop market. Also, from some online customer reviews there could be quality issues. In case you go for this excellent 10th Gen i7 laptop, ensure that there is a Mi/Xiaomi customer service centre for laptops close by.

Conclusion and Guide:

Under 60,000 you are getting a selection of high-performance laptops with option to upgrade the memory by an extra 16GB to 32GB. Paired with Intel i5 or Ryzen 5 and SSD disks, these are one of the best laptops for programmers and software application developers. At the standard configuration they make the best laptops for writers and bloggers.

Most of these come with a separate graphics controller up to the mid range performance for Nvidia graphics controllers. Making them an excellent choice for architects, artists and videographers as well.

You can run applications like Autocad, 3-D Modeling software, Adobe Photoshop/Premiere and similar other software.

Programmers and Data Scientists can use the power of graphics controllers for data analytics involving high performance computing. If you need more power with GPU, check out our under 1lakh or 2lakhs guides for gaming laptops. They will work very well for you as well.

We have included mostly 10th Gen CPU and few 9th Gen Intel i5 configurations have been included as they perform at the same level or slightly better as the latest Ryzen 5.

We recommend school students to start with budget laptop and graduate to either mid-range or under 50K laptops or to the recommendations here. As you graduate and skills grow, the laptop can get upgraded.

For writers and bloggers take your pick up from any of the categories – budget under 30K, mid-range under 40K, good performer under 50k or high performers under 60k here. Pick the light weight one for each of carrying around or holding in one hand.

Free bundled productivity software, Microsoft Office Home & Student makes few of the laptops an attractive buy – we have used it as secondary factor in our ranking (rank within similar free software laptops). Now on the rankings/recommendations:

In places 1 to 3, Acer Nitro 5, ASUS TUF and HP Pavilion have the same GTX 1650 graphics controller. So ranking is based on the CPU performance with, 9th Gen Intel i5 having a definite edge over the 3rd Gen latest Ryzen 5. Next is the default RAM memory and upgrade options. High performance storage SSD or higher speed 7200 rpm HDD get better ranking. These are best laptops for engineering students under 60000. Also, the best laptops under 60000 for graphic designers, video editing and content creators.

Note that graphics controller 1650 is in the mid-range performance and can do a maximum of 94fps in few games with lower settings. So, the higher refresh rate of 120Hz on ASUS TUF never exercised. However, it makes a best laptop for professional graphics software applications like Autocad or Adobe or for high performance computing.

In the 1st place is Acer Nitro 5 with Intel i5 9th Gen vs ASUS TUF’s Ryzen 5. It’s 1TB 7200 rpm HDD is slower than SDD but not a bad performer like the 5400 rpm HDDs.

In the close 2nd place is ASUS TUF with Ryzen 5. But for the CPU performance it would have been 1st place. Its 120Hz refresh rate display does not give it an edge because performance limitation of GTX 1650 equalizes it with Acer Nitro 5 and 3rd place HP Pavilion.

In 3rd place is the HP Pavilion because of maximum supported memory of 16GB vs 32GB by Acer & ASUS. Also, the 1TB HDD 5400 rpm disk is slow and needs a SSD to be added at extra cost.

In the 4th place in gaming laptops is the Lenovo Ideapad L340 which has the GTX 1050 graphics controller which is between the mid and starter range of graphics controller performance spectrum. Like the HP Pavilion, L340 also need addition of SSD to get past slow 1TB HDD. Note that memory cannot be upgraded beyond 8GB, limiting the applications which can run.

Coming up in the 5th place is the special mention Mi Notebook Horizon Edition 14. It finds a place on the list because of its higher performance Intel i7 10th Gen CPU. Only one to be available in the under 60 000 price point. It also comes with the starter graphics controller MX350. However, it comes with a fixed configuration with no upgrades. Works well for students and budding artists and also writers/bloggers.

Also note that being new in the laptop market, not much of a history on the reliability/quality of Mi laptops. Also you need to make sure that they have specifically laptop service centre close by.

In summary – the best laptops under 60000 for students, writers, bloggers, artists and architects are - Acer Nitro 5 and ASUS TUF.

The best laptop under 60,000 is - Mi Notebook Horizon Edition 14

Best 2in1 Laptops for under 60000

1. HP Pavilion x360 14-dh1178tu 14-inch Laptop

HP Pavilion x360 is a convertible 2in1 laptop. It comes with Intel i3-10110U 10th Gen higher clock and performance almost similar to Intel i5/Ryzen 5 for most uses.

It comes with a sleek, thin and light weight design, in a compact 14” touch screen display at FHD IPS1920x1080p resolution with micro-edges for more visible screen.

x360 in the name gives a foldable touch screen display which can be folded 360o backwards to use it as touchscreen workspace. However, because of the thickness you do not get the same experience as standalone tab/tablet.

Most notable, it comes with MS Office Home and Student, which makes it a complete productivity app ready laptop for most users. Works very well for typing out notes, blogs or articles. Also the touch screen with Windows Ink can be very useful to write notes, sketching.
