Summary:

Overall, this large 15.6” model from HP is best configuration for under 50000. It comes with MS Office Home & Student software preloaded. It is ready to use out of the box is a big plus. Backlit keyboard, Bluetooth v5.0 and may be IPS kind of display would have made it perfect. Note, not many laptops under 50000 come with backlit keyboard.

This is a perfect laptop for daily tasks, school and college students, video/photo editing and productivity applications. Note that high resolution video rendering will be still slow because of integrated graphics controller.

You can supplement with an external monitor via HDMI and 16GB RAM for better screen and performance for programmers. Add 1TB HDD for video/photo storage or backup for documents/code.

Summary:

This model from ASUS with midrange powered Ryzen 5, 8GB memory and 256GB SSD, makes it a very good option at budget price under 50000. Though 512GB SSD could have been added at the same price point. Light weight, sleek design with good hardware configuration and ASUS quality make it a good buy at the lower end of 50000 price point. ASUS Vivobook 14 with Ryzen is the best ASUS laptop under 50000.

You can upgrade to 512GB SSD and add 1TB HDD to get the extra space for applications and use HDD for storage. It is one more good option to consider for programmers/software application development. With extra 4GB and SSD upgrade you can get better performance for more intensive programming and video/photo editing.

If you like ASUS laptops look and reliability go for this one.

If you want the bigger 15.6” screen checkout other ASUS laptop option at link. It however has the slower 1TB HDD, which can be improved with adding primary SSD disk.

Summary:

Avita Liber V14 model is the new laptop with 10th Gen i5 CPU. It also has the best configuration with FHD display, 8GB RAM and 512GB SSD making it the best performance configuration at low price point. An attractive 18+6 months warranty, instead of regular 1-year warranty.

It is very good as a productivity laptop, programmers’ laptop. Except for Integrated graphics low performance, it is good for moderately graphics intensive games.

Note it comes with MS Office 365 1-year offer only. You may also get similar configuration for slightly less without the offer.

It is a very tempting configuration at a low price point. However, because of the Avita being a new entrant in laptop market and few unfavourable reviews on support and quality issues, we do not recommend it for everyone. Before buying, check if you have Avita service centre easily accessible/close by for a personal trek in case you do not get expected support.

6 Mi Notebook 14 Intel Core i5-10210U 10th Gen Thin and Light Laptop

Mi from Xiaomi the well known mobile/cell phone manufacturer, similar to their mobiles/cell phones bring a feature loaded laptops at a very attractive point.

The Mi Notebook 14 comes with Intel i5-10210U 10th Gen CPU, 8GB DDR4-2666 RAM and 512 GB SSD SATA 3 for storage.

You get either with Integrated graphics controller Intel UHD 620 or optional discrete/separate graphics controller from Nvidia MX250 with 2GB RAM. Nvidia MX250 option in the configuration is priced slightly higher.

MX250 is lower end performance controller among Nvidia. It is good for lighter games and some higher end games at low resolution settings. Though it is very good for video editing applications. Performance wise it more than double the Integrated UHD performance in bench mark tests.

The display is 14” with FHD resolution, 1920x1080. Network connectivity is dual band 802.11ac Wifi.

In terms of upgrades or down-grades, the model supports only SSD down grade to 256GB SATA 3 disk. Memory is fixed at 8GB only. No option for additional HDD.

Bluetooth connectivity is v5.0. Front video camera at 720p is a free add-on which takes up one USB port.

Summary:

Mi Notebook 14 is almost one of the best under 50000 laptops. Very good build, just 1.5kg, sleek looks, latest Intel i5 good size memory of 8GB and 512 GB SSD. This goodness gets deflated with bummers – no option to upgrade memory beyond the 8GB, free webcam offered takes up one USB slot, instead of being built-in. Also, a minor issue SSD is SATA 3 slower than Nvme SATA supported by other laptop brands.

In spite of limitations Mi Notebook 14 is very choice for daily tasks and entertainment at home, both school & college students, video editing and productivity applications.

You also get a slightly cheaper configuration with Intel integrated graphics controller Intel UHD 620 without Nvidia graphics controller. It is good option if you are not into video editing or do not play games. Use the same product link to select with or without Nvidia MX250 graphics controller

Overall, you get two configurations, making it the best laptop under 5000 from Mi (Xiaomi)

This HP laptop model has the latest Intel i5-10210U 10th Gen CPU and integrated Intel UHD graphics controller, with 8GB DDR4-2666 MHz RAM and 1TB 5400 rpm HDD. With free bundled MS Office Home and Student, you can start using this laptop right out of the box.

Finger print sensor is the extra addition in this HP laptop

The display is FHD (1920x1080) resolution, 15.6” large screen with narrow bezels. Network connectivity is the standard (1x1) Wifi.

The HDD at 5400 rpm is slow, but good performance for most tasks. If you are using beyond 6 or 7 - multiple tabs in the browser or into compiling & building slightly complex software applications, would recommend adding either 256GB or 512GB SSD as primary boot disk. You can use the 1TB as storage/backup.

Upgrade to 16GB RAM to get the best performance for software/application development. You can play games but will be limited by Integrated graphics controller.

In terms of upgrades or down-grades, the model supports 2 slots for DRAM for up to 16GB memory. With the current configuration, you can add one more 8GB DRAM for 16GB total memory.

For storage you can add either 256GB or 512GB SSD. The HDD can be either 500GB/1TB 5400 rpm. In the default configuration it 1TB HDD 5400 rpm.

Summary:

Overall, this large 15.6” model from HP is a very good Intel i5 configuration. It comes with MS Office Home & Student software preloaded. It is ready to use out of the box is a big plus. It is the best HP laptop under 50000.

Only gripe, it is expensive for its configuration compared to other laptops reviewed here – though not by a large amount if it is on discount.

Add extra 8GB memory and an SSD for a perfect laptop for daily tasks, school and college students, video/photo editing and productivity applications. Note that high resolution video rendering will be still slow because of integrated graphics controller.

You can supplement with an external monitor via HDMI and 16GB RAM for better screen and performance for programmers. Add SSD and use 1TB HDD for video/photo storage or backup for documents/code.

Summary:

ASUS Ultra K14 is a low cost but high performance laptop. It is the best/ideal Writer’s laptop. High resolution and very low weight make it easy to carry around.

It is also very good for daily tasks, programming/software development tasks. Would work very well if you are doing software development in the cloud-based systems. Would work well for both college and school students. Upgrade with 8GB RAM for heavier usage.

You can do photo editing and some limited video editing because of low 4GB RAM. However, with 8GB RAM upgrade you can take more heavy duty tasks. Second SSD can be useful for video/photo backup/storage.

Overall, would recommend this model, if you need a very light weight high performance and low price point. It is the best writers laptop.

Conclusion:

We have ranked the 9 best laptops under 50,000 based on CPU, memory, storage, with display resolution being FHD for all. Storage has played a key part with faster SSD vs slow HDD, then followed by memory. CPU performance for variants available under 50000, is almost same for most tasks. Though you might see the difference in case of any intensive video editing/rendering.

We have included two laptops which are not ranked – they bring in a unique value proposition in the under 50,000 range. And both happen to be from ASUS.

Note that we have not included lowered or standard clock Intel i3 laptops, because the performance proposition they bring can be got at a price point below 40,000. Same way older version or generation CPUs are not included, as you already have good choice with the latest laptops.

The CPUs are Intel i5 1035G1, Intel i5 10220U, AMD Ryzen 5-3500U and Intel i3 10110U. For most activities not a significant difference between the Intel i5 and AMD Ryzen 5-3500U. You may see the difference if you doing high performance video or photo edits. Similarly, Intel i3 included runs at 2.1MHz higher clock and performance wise gets very close to Intel i5 and Ryzen 5 versions reviewed here.

The brands included are from HP, Lenovo, Acer, ASUS, Mi and Avita Liber. Dell does not find a mention as their configurations for CPUs considered are in the higher price band

Free bundled productivity software, Microsoft Office Home & Student makes few of the laptops an attractive buy – we have used it as secondary factor in our ranking (rank within similar free software laptops). Now on the rankings/recommendations:

In 1st to 3rd ranked laptops there is very little difference in the performance and value for price they bring. Lenovo Ideapad with faster dual band Wifi and Intel i5 is in the first place. In close second is HP 15s Ryzen 5, with its extra value with USB Type-C port. Both come with free MS Office Home and Student. So, Lenovo Ideapad is the best Lenovo laptop under 50000 and HP 15s Ryzen 5 is the best HP laptop under 50,000 with its price value proposition.

In 3rd place is ASUS VivoBook 14 Ryzen 5, as it has smaller 256GB SSD with Ryzen 5 and no MS Office. But it has 4 USB ports with one Type-C and dual band faster Wifi 2x2 ac.

In 4th place is Avita Liber V14 with ideal combo Intel i5 8GB RAM and 512GB SSD. It has few significant extra features like finger print sensor, backlit keyboard and Type C USB. Unfortunately, it comes with maximum memory capped at 8GB and no support for second disk. Though the SSD can be upgraded to 1TB SSD. Also, it is a new entrant with unknown support and reliability. Few issues on laptop display hinges have been reported by online customers.

5th place Acer Aspire 3 Ryzen 5 is almost ties with Avita Liber, with it is upgradable memory and dual disk supports. Though it does not have the extra features of Avita Liber. This model is the best Acer laptop under 50000.

6th place Mi from Xiaomi is a new entrant to laptop market, though it has a good reputation in mobile/cell phone market. It has very good configuration, though that gets capped with maximum memory at 8GB and no second disk or support for HDD. Videocam is free external USB which takes up one port. SSD SATA 3 is slower than Nvme SSD supported by other brands.

Mi Notebook 14 variant with separate 2GB VRAM Nvidia MX250 graphics controller makes it the only one under 50000. It is the best Mi laptop under 50000.

7th and 8th place Lenovo V15 Ryzen 5 and Acer Aspire 3 Intel i5 are almost the tie, with Lenovo having edge with faster dual band wifi vs Acer having an extra wired ethernet port.

9th place HP 15s Intel i5 is best configuration except for its slower 1TB HDD at 5400 rpm. It ends up last primarily because value vs price. Otherwise, it would have been in the top 4 or 5

For best gaming laptops you would need at least an i7/Ryzen 7 or above with 16GB+ memory, separate graphics controller with 2GB or 4GB VRAM and SSD. With limitations, the best gaming laptop under 50000 is the Mi Notebook 14 with Nvidia MX250.

Now about the exclusive selections in under 50000 price band, which bring in a unique value proposition. Both of these use higher clocked Intel i3-10110U with almost close performance as i5 or Ryzen 5 for most common tasks.

ASUS VivoBook Flip 14 is the only 2in1 laptop with touch screen display which can flip for using it as tab/tablet. Finger print sensor and backlit keyboard are a big value add features. RAM is on lower side at 4GB, but can replaced with 8GB maximum for improved performance. Light weight 1.5 kg, high performance and FHD touch screen make it the best ASUS laptop under 50000 and also the best touch screen laptop under 50000.

ASUS VivoBook Ultra K14 is best value proposition with its light weight at 1.4kg FHD display, backlit keyboard, latest WiFi 6 (gigabit 802.11 AX) and finger print sensor. Unique dual SSD disk is also a good option. This makes it the best writers’ laptop under 50000.

Guide to Buying Laptops under 50000

If you have not yet read our Guide to Buying Best Laptop, would recommend you to go through it find the kind of laptop configuration for your needs.

If you have read the guide and/or your budget constraint needs you to find the best under 40000, then you are in the right place. Read on and then check our reviews and recommendations above.

What to consider while buying a laptop :

CPU: You get mostly Ryzen 5 and few Intel i5 configurations. Though we have included a few Intel i3 higher clock CPUs because of their performance and/or value proposition. Go for the latest CPU, which got released the previous year. The latest release in current year are a bit more expensive. Avoid older CPU, but if you want to do not go for more than 2 years old CPUs.

Memory: Common to 8GB DDR4. Look for upgrade feasibility to the maximum 8GB or 12/16GB (best). Upgrade helps if you work with lot of tabs in the browser, productivity apps or programming, slightly involved photo/video editing.

Storage: Go for SSD in default configuration. You can use external disk for storage or add HDD later. The 1TB HDD are very slow at 5400 rpm. It is okay either way if you do very basic light weight browsing/emails or occasional use of productivity apps.

Display/Graphics: You get integrated graphics controller which is very much adequate for most tasks, including simple photo and video editing tasks. You have to go for discrete/separate special graphics controller for – gaming, artists – photo/video/animation rendering, editing. Discrete/separate graphics controller will be available in higher price ranges. Check out our guides for different budgets. You get screen sizes 14” to 15.6” with FHD (1920x1080) resolution. Avoid any lower HD resolution, as you have good choice amongst the FHD laptops.

Other important things:

USB ports: Good to have 2 to 3 ports. Type A 3.0 and one Type C port are best.

HDMI: At least one port is good to have. Full size HDMI is better than mini HDMI as you would need an adapter with mini port.

SD card reader: Good to have, as you can connect your digital camera via USB. Audio: Stereo speakers and headphone/MIC 3.5mm jack are needed. Some brands offer Dolby stereo or other sound enhancements.

Keyboard: Backlit keyboard useful in low light. We do have a select few with backlit keyboard.
